Well, crap.

Does this reduce my trade-in value?

This happened less than two hours after I saw a trio of new 2012 Focus Titanium hatchbacks (in gold, dark red, and white) identically equipped with five-speed manual transmissions for $21000 each.

In slightly better news, I got this and this is awesome.

The Eastern Shore Trip, April 27, 2013, Part Six: #hoonage

The real fun begins.

We take VA 183 west.

More great signage. Just ignore that street blade.

Side street of US 13.

VA 83 is...nowhere near here. VA 183, which we're actually on, is 7.43 miles long, connecting US 13 in Exmore with Jamesville.

It's two lanes undivided throughout. Also, the glare returns.

Rustic living.

This is a banked curve. We'll see a lot of these. (This one may also be the most visible.)

I don't really know what happened here. This is where you would get your M5 sideways.

Hooning on the golden road. I had my lens shroud on, I swear.

SR 606.

The back straight. 155 mph is too slow.

Scrub the speed off at Six Ls Bend.

This sign is supposed to say Concord Wharf is to the right. You couldn't see it very well without the glare.

There's a left-hander somewhere in all of that glare.

An old sign for the Jamesville Post Office, which is apparently so small Wikipedia doesn't say the population.

VA 183 becomes SR 613 here.

It's the road to Silver Beach, which is also too small for a population.

We didn't go all the way to Silver Beach.

There's no guide sign for Concord Wharf going eastbound. I didn't take a whole lot of pictures going the other way.

Back in Exmore.

And we're back to US 13 to close out this post. I definitely want to come back here with something faster. Oh, and Happy Mother's Day. Call your mom or take her out to dinner or something.

The Eastern Shore Trip, April 27, 2013, Part Five: The Little Known Eastern Shore Rally.

Apologies for the brief absence. We pick up where we left off, about to head onto VA 182 east into the wilds of Accomack County.

VA 182 is 3.71 miles long, connecting US 13 at Painter with SR 605 at Quinby.

It's an undivided two-lane country road throughout.

One of these things does not look like the other...

Mappsburg, population 60.

VA 182 crosses the Machipongo River. At the bridge is an interesting old boathouse thing, sadly abandoned and being reclaimed by nature.

Being less than four miles long, it's not long until we come to the end.

It ends at SR 605 in the village of Quinby, population 282.

White secondary number signs at the terminus. After this, we turned around and headed the other way on 182, during which we took some video.

Westbound reassurance. The bad-signage virus doesn't have time for a place of 282 people.

Then again, maybe it does, but fortunately these look like resident-made signs.

Back at the bridge.

"Machipongo" is an amusing name. It sounds kind of like the name of a character Tim Burton would have Johnny Depp play.

The boat house again. Needs some TLC.

The middle of nowhere, Eastern Shore style.

Junction SR 600.

And end VA 182 at US 13.

US 13 south, since that was not nearly enough photos for one post.

Our next stop is VA 181.

VA 181 is less than a mile long, connecting an indeterminate point in Belle Haven to US 13.

At the VA 178/181 split. The SR 609 sign is clearly an example of early #alandot test signage.

Actually, it's not really a split. There's about two hundred feet (if that) between VA 178 and 181 that's not really a state route.

On VA 178, which is 11.51 miles long, connecting US 13 Business in Exmore with a plethora of secondary routes in Bobtown.

Cautionary graffiti?

Back in Northampton County.

Exmore, population 1136, which is wicked important.

We'll avoid US 13 for the time being.

Best of.

Heading into Exmore.

US 13 Business. VA 178 ends.

Look at that, a blank VA route shield. What route is it for? Because I want you to stay tuned, all I'm going to say is that you better bring something RWD that's fast, maybe a E39 BMW M5, because it's hoon time.
