Photo overload, December 15, 2012, Part Three.

US 58 eastbound, headed back toward Suffolk.

We encounter a Big Yard Sale. So big, in fact, that it incapacitated an early-generation Saturn Vue.

VA 189 heads back into Holland.

Because there's a bypass to elimitante the truck trarffic.

More unisignage.

Mainline 58 joins US 13 on the bypass. Take US 13 south for various North Carolina destinations. We return to 58 Business.

Looking the other way on 58 Business.

Cool old railroad underpass with double pedestrian tunnels, but no sidewalks.

Staying on 58 Business, but don't tell the signs that.

Not only is this intersection a shop of horrors when it comes to bad signage, it doesn't even tell you you're actually going to be on US 13, 58, and 460 Business if you keep straight. At least it tells you they're all business routes. Reinforcing the stereotype.

This is significantly better, if still incorrect (although you could say it's pointing to 13/58/460).

VA 337 again.

VA 337 also goes to Portsmouth, but okay.

From here, VA 337 is the Nansemond Parkway. Also from here, I switched to my telephoto lens.

Mixed results were had.

Nansemond Parkway is two lanes throughout.

Maximum zoom.

We didn't see any deer.

Hidden driveway is hidden.

Sometimes, good signs manage to escape the ugly signage virus.

Since VA 125 is technically a dead-end road now, some greenout is required.

Construction signage in various levels of clarity and quality.

It almost looks like some grade separation is being built here. We leave VA 337 and Nansemond Parkway for Shoulders Hill Road.

Arialveticverstesk(™).

Some cool business names. Biker Barn sounds like it could be a restaurant, a bar, or something else NSFW. Or a repair shop.

The fourth lane and median Shoulders Hill Road gains to pass some newer apartment complexes ends here.

Some rustic scenes to break up the monotony of twenty-first century $1500-a-month townhomes.

Shoulders Hill Road comes to an end at US 17.

We go south.

We encounter the western terminus of VA 164, the Western Freeway. Which way do we go? Stay tuned.
